Hawaii, 1858-59 Fernando G. Westcott Correspondence, 4 letters written by a crew member aboard the whaling vessel Caroline to family back home; first 2 page letter datelined "At Sea, March 29, 1858" announcing his arrival in Oahu, mentions taking a whale of New Zealand and liberty in Otchita, second 4 page letter "Honolulu August 24, 1858" written on illustrated Sailor's Home view letterhead with interesting post script…This picture is a true likeness of the Sailors Home Honolula, one of the beat institutions for a seaman in the world. I am now in the office of the Sailors home writing this letter, third 3 page letter from Honolulu describes much of his season hunting whales, fourth 4 page letter "Honolulu, September 21st, 1859" on illustrated Sailor's Home letterhead regarding Cooks Inlet in Russian America (Alaska) where the ship was hit by a tornado and lost part of the mast, etc., Very Fine.
