Soldiers' Farewell Patriotic Valentine, allover design in orange showing soldier and lady in embrace, on oversized cover to Toledo, Iowa, franked with 1861, 3¢ rose tied by "Memphis, Ten., Feb 21, 1862" cds, with original enclosure addressed on reverse, with American flag clad tent vignette which opens to show soldier at desk with apparition of sweetheart in background, "True Joy" verse below; cover edge wear with restored corner at bottom right and stamp with perf toning, F.-V.F., a lovely and rare patriotic valentine with the original enclosure.
