Confederacy, Mount Enterprise Tex Jan 12, sharp clear strike of cds ties 1862, 5¢ blue vertical pair, full margins except just touched at lower right corner, stain spot lower right, on orange cover to Springhill Tex., soldier's endorsement "Asst. Surgeon, 18th Tex Cavalry Regt, Lieut. Col. Pickett Commanding" at left; reduced slightly at right, light vertical letter fold crosses one stamp, Very Fine, ex-Kohn.

Confederacy, Owensville Tex. Jan 5, sharp strike of cds and matching "Paid" handstamp (CSA type A) on buff cover with military address to Maj. L. G. Scogin, 3d Cavalry Battalion, Texas State Troops, Sabine Pass, Texas; some small edge faults and wear, F.-V.F.; signed by Kimbrough.

Confederacy, "Plano Texas, Nov 12", manuscript postmark and matching "Paid 5c" rating on 1861 enameled ladies cover to William C. McKanny, Capt Smith Co, Stones regiment at Fort Smith Ark., forwarded upon arrival to Fayetteville Ark. with "Little Rock Ark Nov 23 1861" cds; slight enamel oxidizing, Very Fine, A scarce Confederate use via Indian Territory.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

This cover was carried via stage over the abandoned Butterfield route through Indian Territory to destination and then forwarded north to Fayetteville.

Confederacy, Rusk Texas Jul 9, cds with matching arced "Paid 5" rating handstamp (CSA type A) on 1861 folded adversity cover made from blue lined paper to John B. Long, care of Capt. F. M. Taylor at Dallas, Texas, forwarded upon arrival with "Dallas Tex Jul 16" cds and manuscript "ford 5" rating to Fort Smith Ark.; small ink stain at right, Very Fine, A scarce Confederate Texas adversity use to Indian Territory.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

This cover was carried by stage to Dallas and then forwarded into Indian Territory via Colbert's Ferry. Carried along the abandoned Overland Stage route to destination.

Paid 10" circular rating handstamp (CSA type F) on legal-size orange cover to Dallas Tex., manuscript "Chge Box 54" charge box notation, court docketing on face; reduced slightly at right, Fine, A very rare marking & usage, which may well be unique.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

This was the same style marking that was used to make the provisional envelopes, except those were struck in black.
