Confederacy, Tudor Hall, Va. Sep 25, partial cds and matching "Paid 5" handstamp on cover with "Official Business, Medical Director's Office" endorsement and addressed to Chief Surgeon, 7th Brigade, Col. N.G. Evans Comdg., light edge stain, F.-V.F., ex-Hambrecht.

Tudor Hall was the post office for Manassas. Brig. Genl. Nathan ("Shanks") George Evans (1824-1868) was born in Marion County, S.C. and graduated from Randolph Macon College before he was eighteen and the U.S. Military Academy which he entered by appointment of John C. Calhoun. Joining the Army under General Beauregard at Manassas Junction, he had command on the field during the first encounter at Blackburn's ford, and again in the great battle of July 21, 1861.
