(Washington) Columbia City, W.T., Sep 18, manuscript postmark on 1854 folded letter to Olympia, W.T., matching 5 rate, letter datelined "Fort Vancouver, Sept 17, 1854" regarding the native IndiansI am well and getting along well with the Indians of my district. In reply to your request I can only say that those Indians have many horses and they value then very highlyI do not think that there can be anything much at present trading with those people.; cover soiling and edge tears, Fine.

(Washington) Columbia City & Vancouver Cover Collection, of 17 covers and two fronts; includes four manuscript Columbia City postmarks with two Paid 6 rates (one on mourning cover) and one Paid 10 rate, also a forwarding postmark on Treasury Office cover (faulty), others with Vancouver postmarks including 5 large W.T. cds types (one on front) including 1851-57, 3¢ usages, #63+65 strip usage, also a 1857 1¢ strip of three usage incoming from Portland, O., couple later small type territorial cds's (one on front) and some later usages; condition varies, F.-V.F. overall.
