ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THIS FANCY CANCELLATION, BOTH ARE ON 3¢ NESBITT ENTIRES.

One of the finest cancellations we have ever encountered, combining rare green color with a design made after the town name. The other recorded 3¢ entire with this Three Oaks Mich. cancel is dated July 30th, 1861 and was originally in the Skinner collection.

"USM" Within Bars, two strikes tie 1861, 1¢ blue and 1863, 2¢ black on orange cover to Cuttingsville Vt., matching "Rutland Vt. Apr 22 1864" cds; barely reduced at left, fresh and Very Fine. Scott No. 63, 73.

Although Skinner lists this cancel design as Kansas City Mo. with a question mark, it is clearly a second type of Rutland Vt. cancels.
