Oct 26, steamboat agent cds ties 3¢ rose (65) on yellow cover addressed to Springfield Oh., originating with "Savanna Ill Oct 21" cds, double strike of blue "Due 3" framed handstamp for proper 6¢ steamboat rate, carried on Route 11122 down to Davenport where route agent cds struck; reduced slightly at right, Very Fine exceptionally rare steamboat agent cds. Route 11122 on the Upper Mississippi River was contracted to the Northern Line Packet Co. in July 1862 for a daily service excluding Sundays at $4,056 per year. Although the route ceased after June 1866, Northern Line steamboats continued to carry mails to Davenport in the 1870s.
