Australia, 1853 Plymouth, England to Williams Town, Victoria, mourning cover franked with G.B. 1847, 1sh green embossed (S.G. 56), margins ample to just touching, tied by "620" barred oval with Plymouth origin cds on reverse, sent via Melbourne where it was charged "3" which was crossed out and re-rated "5" due for ship letter charge, reverse with red "Ship Letter, Melbourne" entry and "Williamstown, Victoria, My 21, 1853" receiving postmark, Very Fine and choice; with 1995 Holcombe certificate.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

Australia, 1853 Geelong, Victoria to Fingal, Tasmania, cover with Per Steamer, via Launceston routing endorsement at top, franked with Victoria 1852, 3d light blue + 1850 2d brown lilac tied by "2/V" barred oval handstamps, for 2d overland to Melbourne and 3d ship rate to Launceton, manuscript "5" due upon arrival for 4d Tasmanian ship letter charge and 1d inland to Fingal, appropriate transit backstamps; small stamp flaws, otherwise Very Fine.

Australia, 1853 Geelong, Victoria to Launcester, Tasmania, folded letter with "per Yara" ship endorsement at top, red manuscript "10" rate for double the 2d overland rate from Geelong to Melbourne and 3d ship rate from Melbourne to Launceston, rated crossed-out and re-rated "8" for the double weight local delivery free, Very Fine.

Australia, 1856 London, England to Melbourne, Victoria, endorsed prepaid packet letter with red "London, Paid, Mr 6, 1856" cds, redirected upon arrival to Tarrengower with Victoria 1850, 1d rose + 3d blue slightly overlapping and tied by barred "1" oval handstamps, Melbourne and transit backstamps; light cover soiling and outer nicks at top center, F.-V.F., an interesting incoming usage with redirection fee paid by first issue adhesives.

Australia, 1873 Melbourne, Victoria, local wrapper to the Education Board endorsed "On Her Majesty Service", with boxed "Detained For Postage, 2d" handstamp and matching "Melbourne, Ja 11, 73" duplex postmark, reverse with green "D.L.B." date stamp, Very Fine and choice, an illegal attempt to pass mail through the post free of charge.
