Canada, 1840 (Aug. 17) Chambly, Quebec to London, England via Montreal, datelined mourning folded letter entered mails with red "Montreal L.C. AUG 29 1840" double-arc datestamp with matching "Paid" h.s. and red manuscript "1/2 Stg." and "1/4 Cy" ratings, carried by Cunard Line Acadia from Boston Sep. 1st to Liverpool arriving Sep. 14th, Very Fine and choice.

Canada, 1856 (Oct. 25) Quebec, Canada to Longhton, England, cover with "Quebec, U.C., OC 25 1856" origin cds and "By-Canadian / Packet" two-line handstamp, partial Canadian due marking crossed out and updated to "6" pence, carried as endorsed by Allan Line Anglo-Saxon from Quebec Oct. 25th to Liverpool, England arriving Nov. 5th, reverse with "Pkt. Letter Liverpool NO 5 1856" tombstone and red London cds; flap tear, Very Fine, an early type of the "By-Canadian / Packet" handstamp.
