Cape of Good Hope, 1858 "Triangular", Perkins Bacon printing, 1d rose on cream-toned paper, pair (small tear and minor creasing) on 1860 (c.) blue folded wrapper to Copenhagen, Denmark, tied by "C.H.G." triangular grid cancel, endorsed "via England, per Royal Mail Steamer", large manuscript "1/2" rating, Hamburg (10.31) and Copenhagen (11.1) backstamps, red crayon "6" skilling final due rating, Very Fine, ex-Hackmey; with 2013 B.P.A. certificate mentioning wrapper reduced at right and can't certify if adhesives missing. THE ONLY RECORDED PRINTED MATTER USE FROM THE CAPE OF GOOD OF HOPE TO DENMARK.
This wrapper was likely holding a newspaper with 2d paying the printed matter rate to Great Britain. Although, it was specified to go by Royal Mail Steamer, this service was discontinued on Dec. 3rd 1853, so it likely traveled via Belgium. There are only four recorded covers bearing Cape of Good Hope stamps to Denmark, this being the only printed matter rate.
