Panama, (Santiago) Colombia 1889, Registration, 10c Deep Brown on Rose Buff, with manuscript "49" number, used from Santiago with Panama 10c orange, uncancelled on cover to New York City, reverse with "Transito, Panama, 21 Set 1897" cds and additional "Agencia Postal Nacional, Panama, 23 Set 1897" ties 10c orange, red crayon "44", purple New York (10.1) arrival backstamp and blue "92073" registry number; minor edge wear; accompanied by two additional pieces used from Santiago with cds bearing Colombia F11 used with Panama 79 pair and the other with F11 used with H2 and 79, F.-V.F. group.
Scott No. Colombia F11 + Panama 18    Estimate $300 - 400.

The postage stamp on this cover was not cancelled in Santiago, however, the Helme collection had another unregistered cover addressed in the same handwriting that was cancelled in Santiago. Registration number 49 is probable from this small interior town in September, while the registration number in Panama would have been about 6500.
