1857, 1¢ blue, type Ia, "curl on shoulder" variety, position 97L4, light town cancel, attractively centered amid typically tight margins, tiny tear, corner crease and some nibbed perfs at lower left, Very Fine appearance, still a handsome example of this rare type 1a stamp which was only produced from from the bottom row of plate 4.
