Schoch's Copper City Express, black curved lined frank (SCH-001) on restored 1864, 3¢ pink front to the Praire P.O., entered the mails with "Shasta, Cal., Nov 20" cds and matching grid cancelling; reduced a bit at left just into frank, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare express frank, of the four usages recorded, three are rebacked fronts and the fourth is in poor condition.Estimate $1,500 - 2,000.
William S. Schoch operated his one-man express and stage from Shasta, Cal. northeast to the Pittsburg mining district and Copper City.
