(Civil War) Union League of America, Boston Mass., original printed 1865 circular requesting member funds reading in part "The Union League of Ward Eleven having determined to assist in endeavors to educate the Freedmen in Washington, have decided to pay the expenses of a School in that city for one year…"; original salmon envelope with "U.L.A., XIII" corner card with preprinted local street address and bearing 2¢ black (73), nat. s.e. at left, tied by quartered cork, partial red "Boston Mass Jan 24" cds, Very Fine and scarce.
