Lot 3394 /o   

Argentina, Collection, 1858-1938, parallel mint and used collection neatly arranged in stockbook, assembled over 35 years and contains approximately 2,000 stamps, arranged as per S.G. catalog (part 20) and allows for all perforation and watermark varieties including Officials and Airmail issues, with Scott equivalent numbers marked on dividing sheets; commencing with Confederation issues including strips of 9 followed by a nice showing of 28 "Escuditos" with and without accent, followed by 1864-72 Rivadavias with some 54 stamps identifying all 8 printings (see Kneitschel), thereafter a good degree of specialized completion through to 1938 including complete 1910 set both mint and used, 1892 Rivadavias, the 1899 Seated Liberty and the 1916-20 San Martin issues all assembled to fully cover watermarks and all perforation varieties; condition varies with only just a little foxing after 1911 as the collection was put together with a view to completeness, with major missing items include the 15c Rivadavia imperf (Sc. 10), 50p Revolution (Sc. 392) and also some Zeppelin green overprints, accompanied with S.G. catalog cuts throughout and a detailed Scott valuation totaling to $18,742 not taking into account much of the specialized perf & watermark varieties not listed by Scott, a truly wonderful extensively assembled collection with much material emanating from Moorhouse auctions.

Argentina, Proof and Specimen Collection, 1864-1980's, many hundreds on stock and album pages housed in Scott album; starting with 1864-67 Rivadavia issue proofs with 5c trial colors, block of 4 and black proof of higher values, 1867-78 issues with plate proof pairs, 1888-90 issues including various 1c//10c trial color die proofs as well as other trial colors including a run of ¼c, 3c & 50c-60c issues, 1891 issue including 10p & 50p unissued value trial colors (as well as other values), extensive section of the 1892-95 Portraits with a myriad of trial colors including some large multiples, Belgrano 12c large die and compound die of six showing no value and obliterated 24c value cliches, similar section of 1899-1903 Seated Liberty issues and a host of later issues including black proofs, 1910 12c Congress inverted center proof, 1892 Santa Maria issue trial colors including blocks, section of airmails, officials including compound trial color large dies, section of specimen overprints from 1873 on including multiples, later sets, airmails including Zeppelin issues and a artist drawing and stamp essays for the 1947 San Martin issue; a wonderful comprehensive collection that would be nearly impossible to duplicate.

Argentina, Postal Stationery Collection, 1876-1940's, well formed collection of many hundreds displayed on pages in three albums; envelopes starting with 1876-80 first issues */o including the scarce 8c types mint with high values parallel mint and used, similar 1882-88 issues with better 10c & 15c watermark issues mint, 1890 surcharge issue with double and albino overprint errors, misplaced surcharges, etc., 1892 issues with uprated foreign destination usages including Finland, nice showing of later issues including error and good usages, section of the scarce 1894-94 obliterated Official issues (6 different types), comprehensive section of lettercards including various formats, perf errors, color shades, 1896-99 Liberty issue view cards with parallel */o, officials, postal cards equally comprehensive showing various types, used with various destination, surcharge types, miscut, 1896 & 1899 Liberty view card issues and later view cards present including the 1902 Province maps, etc., extensive wrapper section with some scarce usages, "Repubilca" miss-spell error, section of scarce Parcel Post sheets, Telegraph & Telegram and Pneumatic Post issues, also a substantial section of "Muestra" specimen overprints; a wonderful collection and an excellent basic for further continuation, inspection highly recommended.
