Mexico, 1886, 1c blue green, horizontal strip of three, tied by blue circle of wedges cancels on hand-made post card to Russia, additionally tied by red 1888 Colima oval origin date stamp, forwarded with Russia with transit backstamps, Very Fine, an unusual usage and rare destination.

Lot 2387    

Mexico, 1887, 1c on 2c Colima Provisional surcharges, on ruled and unruled issues, in combination with 1886, 3c lilac + 1887, 5c blue, all tied by blue circle of wedges cancels on 1888 cover to Buenos Aires, Argentina, red Colima origin postmarks, transit and receiving backstamps, Very Fine, The Colima surcharges were an illegal private overprint by the postmaster yet this cover traveled to its destination. Maybe 15-20 covers exist that actually traveled through the mails.

Mexico, 1887, 5c ultramarine, green ruled lines, block of four, tied by grid handstamp on reverse of cover to Manchester, England, front with 1888 Mazatlan origin postmark and registry etiquette, S.F. & N.Y. transit postmarks; corner nick in top left stamp, otherwise Very Fine, this issue was created and used briefly due to a temporary scarcity of regular paper, the government used ledger paper.
