Chiapas, Provisional, 1866, 2r black on pink, slight paper color fade, ample to large margins, tied on reverse of folded letter sheet to Tabsco by Tonala handstamp (Schatzkes 130), front with fancy "Franco" & "Tuxtla" handstamps (Schatzkes 132 & 132A), Very Fine, NF records 40 stamps in census, with very few covers known, most are from Tuxtla and very few from Tonala; with 1955 P.F. and 2010 MEPSI certificates.

A RARE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE CHIAPAS 2R BLACK ON PINK PROVISIONAL ON COVER.

Most of these provisional issues where affixed to the reverse of covers sealing and torn when the recipient opened the letter. This example survived this fate as it was not placed in such a manner.

Guadalajara, 1867, ½r black on white, two singles, in combination with 2r black on green quadrille on mourning folded letter to Zacatecas, tied by Guadalajara oval handstamps (Schatzkes 295), Very Fine and choice, an attractive combination rarity, with only 6-7 covers are known with the medio real stamp, with most bearing a block of 4 sealing the cover; with 2002 MEPSI certificate, signed Bash.
