(Western Ephemera) Buffalo Bill Ephemera, 3 items; first a original hand-drawn pen illustration by Lord Baden Powell of "Frontiersmen Buffalo Bill with Boy Scout & Red Indian Scout", on card (108x145mm) with pencil inscription below, second a hand written note in the hand of Major Wade on portion of post card…Did B-P (Baden Powell) ever meet Buffalo Bill? Yes, he did, at Toronto in 1910. I was there with B-P., third a silk ribbon with portrait of Buffalo Bill with allegorical Eagle & Flags below, Very Fine.

(Western Ephemera) E. Clampus Vitus/Washington Ball! 1856 printed invitation in blue, with embossed border, to be held at the "Orleans Hotel" in the City of Placerville; couple file folds do not detract, Very Fine, a very rare collateral item.

(Western Ephemera) Lewiston and Weaverville & Shasta Wagon Road Toll Ticket Collection, 1860's, of 58 tickets; with 49 different Lewiston Road tickets showing various rates for various passenger and horse team wagons (one footman @ 10¢ to 12 horse freight team @ $26.40 toll), on either yellow of green cards, and 9 different Weaverville & Shasta Wagon Road tickets showing various rates, also included a unused Lewiston Turnpike Co. & an unused and used Weaverville & Shasta Wagon Road stock certificate, Very Fine.
Estimate    $400 - 600.

During the 1860's, what is known as the Lewiston Turnpike Road, a variation of the Shasta - Weaverville Road, was constructed from near the Tower House in Shasta County to Lewiston in Trinity County. This was originally a private toll road.

(Western Ephemera) San Francisco Political Ephemera, 1920-50's, 14 items; includes partially used booklet of seven tickets for the 1920 Democratic National Convention in San Francisco, 4 passes to the Senate Chambers and House of Representatives for the 82nd Congress Second Session (two of each), other items for the National Republican Committee including Temporary Roll of Delegates, magazine from the Convention, Centennial Ball, two signed House of Representatives Restaurant menus of various delegates and invitation to the Inauguration of Eisenhower and Nixon as President and Vice President (including cover) (no photo).

(Western Ephemera) Seth Kinman, California Hunter, 1864 Carte-De-Visite, reverse with Philp & Solomons' Metropolitan Gallery imprint, Very Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Seth Kinman was an early settler of Humboldt County, California, a hunter based in Fort Humboldt, a famous chair maker, and a nationally recognized entertainer. He stood over 6 feet tall and was known for his hunting prowess and his brutality toward bears and Indians. Kinman claimed to have shot a total of over 800 grizzly bears, and, in a single month, over 50 elk. He was also a hotel keeper, barkeeper, and a musician who performed for President Lincoln on a fiddle made from the skull of a mule.
