Pacific Express Co., Los Angelos, Nov 9, blue oval date stamp (PAC-102j) on 1855 folded letter to San Francisco, from Pico to Castro, with matching "Paid" in oval handstamp; cover edge fade, chipping and file fold separations, still a Very Fine strike, one of four known examples of the Pacific Express "Los Angelos" handstamp.

Pacific Express & Co., Placerville, Sep 29, blue oval handstamp (PAC-102) on 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to San Francisco, with print "Pacific Express Co., Paid" pony and rider blue frank (PAC-005); small repair to upper right corner, otherwise Very Fine, around ten examples of the Pacific Express blue franked envelopes are recorded, most from Sacramento, this being the only known example from Placerville.

Pacific Express Co., San Francisco, Jul 18, complete strike of blue circular date stamp (PAC-100) canceling on 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to Pacific Ord in Los Angeles, Cal., with matching blue defunct Adams "Paid" in oval handstamp used as frank, 1855 docketing at left, Very Fine, with less than ten examples of this handstamp are recorded.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Address to Pacificus Ord, the US District Attorney at Los Angeles. Pacificus was one of the framers of California Constitution and, as most historians agree, that he and his brothers are the illegitimate grandsons of King George IV. Fort Ord is named after his brother Edward.
