ELC, manuscript initials on 1864, 2¢ rose vermilion on cover to Lahainaluna, Maui, tied by target handstamp with matching "Honolulu, Hawaiian - Islands, Oct 11" cds, docketed "J.T. Pogue, Sept 24/66" a missionary who was stationed at Waiohinu; small cover corner nick at top left, Very Fine, one of three examples of this manuscript initial postmark known to us.
Scott No. 31    Estimate $500 - 750.

During parts of 1866, the Hilo Postmaster had administrative authority over Waiohinu and there was a quick succession of unidentified people running the office there.

Grid of Dashes in Circle, two bold strikes of handstamp (cirgrid25-7(dashes), 1R) tying 1875, 2¢ brown, two singles on cover to Kohala, bold Honolulu, "Hawaiian - Islands, Jan 31" cds, Feb. 1876 docketing on reverse; opening slit affecting margin of right stamp, Very Fine, rare as believed to have been used for a short time in Honolulu during January-February of 1876.
