Bouton's Franklin City Despatch Post, 1847 (2¢) black on green, without gum, margins ample to just shaving outer frameline, flawed top right corner and usual small surface crack, Very Fine appearance; with 2004 P.F. certificate.

A GREAT NEW YORK LOCAL POST RARITY - ONE OF ONLY FOUR RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE 2¢ BOUTON'S FRANKLIN CITY DESPATCH POST STAMP.

All of the four known examples bear faults including creasing, pinholes and scuffing.

California Penny Post Co., 1855, 5¢ blue, block of 20 consisting of two panes of 10, without gum, large margins at top and bottom with full sheet margins at sides, light corner creases in right selvage not mention on cert, Extremely Fine, ex-Lilly, Boker and Golden.

City Despatch Post, 1842, 3¢ black on grayish, showing pre-printing paper folds at bottom, bottom right corner margin single, without gum, full sheet margins with large balanced margin around, Extremely Fine and choice, a striking paper variety, the only one we know of on this issue; with 2008 P.F. certificate.

City Despatch Post, 1847-50, 2¢ black on grayish, "C" in ms. between "Two" & "Cents", large margins, canceled by straight line "Paid" handstamp and tied by red "New - York, 5cts, Mar 29" cds on 1848 folded letter to Warwick, N.Y., red "City Despatch Post P.O., Mar. 29" at left, Extremely Fine, very rare with less than ten examples known genuinely used on cover, ex-Malcolm.

Cumming's City Post, 1844, 2¢ black on vermilion, corner cancel at top right, margins ample to touching, repaired adding top left margin and bottom left portion of stamp, Fine appearance, ex-Middendorf.

ONE OF ONLY FIVE RECORDED EXAMPLES AND THE ONLY KNOWN USED EXAMPLE OF THE 2¢ CUMMING'S CITY POST OVAL ADHESIVE OFF COVER.

Of the five examples known, all are uncancelled including the unique on cover example.

Eagle City Post, 1850 (1¢) blue on bluish, block of 4, without gum, clear margin to just in at bottom, bottom left stamp showing plate crack at bottom left, faint vertical crease in left pair only visible in fluid, F.-V.F., woefully undercataloged as this block is unique, ex-Hall; signed Sloane, Stern, with 2001 P.F. certificate.

Hampton City Despatch, 1847 (2¢) black, neatly cut to shape as always encountered with margins clear of outer frameline all around, on folded letter with Quaker dateline "8mo (Aug) 19th, 1847", to Friendsville, Pa. with "Via N. York" routing endorsement, canceled by small "X" below "Paid" in light red and blue ink, with handstamp impression showing though onto letter effectively tying stamp, additionally tied by blue "Philada, Pa., 5cts, Aug 23" integral rate cds; cover with trivial faint stain at upper right and some splitting along folds, Very Fine, ex-Ackerman, Gibson and Boker; signed R. Lowe, with 1999 P.F. certificate.

THE UNIQUE TIED EXAMPLE OF THE T.A. HAMPTON "CITY DESPATCH" STAMP - AMONG THE FINEST OF FIVE GENUINE ON COVER USAGES KNOWN.

Approximately ten examples of this stamp are known, several of which have been erroneously placed on covers. No other example bears any type of cancellation, let alone cancellations from both the Philadelphia Post Office and the local post.

Jones' City Express, 1845, 2¢ black on pink, without gum, four clear to large margins showing the complete stamp design, flaws including some discoloration and small tear, Very Fine appearance.

ONE OF THE FEW FOUR MARGIN EXAMPLES OF THE 2¢ JONES' CITY EXPRESS STAMP.

This stamp is notorious for having one of more sides cutting into the design. We known of only one other example than this one with four margins.

Mason's New Orleans City Express, 1850-57, 2¢ black on yellow, red grid cancel, clear margins, flaws including a few tiny pinholes and slight scuffing, F.-V.F. appearance; with 2009 P.F. certificate.

ONE OF NINE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE 2¢ MASON'S NEW ORLEANS CITY EXPRESS STAMP.

Of the nine recorded examples, six are known on cover and three off cover. Of these three, this is the only example that does not have margins cutting into one of the corner ornamentations.
