A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE $100.00 "SERIES 1940" OVERPRINT ISSUE. SCARCE WITH JUST THE MANUSCRIPT CANCEL.

The higher denomination documentary stamps are usually found with cut cancels. The example offered here is unusually attractive with a neat manuscript cancel. This example with serial number 503495 cancelled on May 21st 1941 probably came off of the same document as 503496 offered in the Scarsdale collection.
