AN EXTREMELY RARE SOUND ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 60¢ 1894 UNWATERMARKED BUREAU NEWSPAPER ISSUE.

The Siegel census of Scott PR98 contains seventeen unused and three used copies. Of these, only two of the original-gum copies are confirmed as sound.

Newspaper, 1896, $5 dark blue, cork cancel, large beautifully balanced margins and exceptional centering, rich deep color enhancing a crisp detailed impression on bright paper, Superb, the only example to receive this grade with none higher (with next highest grade being only a 90); with 2016 P.S.E. Graded certificate (Superb 98, SSV $925).
