1882-88, 5¢ brown, 5¢ indigo, used together with two 4¢ green (211) singles and 10¢ brown (209), all cancelled by matching target cancels on 2¢ red brown on blue entire to Switzerland, reverse with "New York, 6-10, 1889" registry oval datestamp and with New York exchange label affixed, Swiss (7.21) arrival backstamp; couple small stamp flaws, reduced slightly at left, Very Fine, A scarce franking with both Garfield colors.

AGO 23 1887" express oval handstamp, Milwaukee 1887 receiving backstamp; corner mend top right, Fine and scarce express mixed franking.

Stevens, New York (12.13) transit backstamp, Charing Cross (12.23) arrival cds, purple "United States Despatch Agent, B.F. Stevens, 25 Dec 84" forwarders oval and readdressed in red ink to Alexandria, Egypt, Fine.

The U.S.S. "Quinnebaug" was probably in Alexandria Harbor to observe the state of the Sudan Campaign, and to protect U.S. citizens if required.
