Mexico, 1868, Hidalgo (thin figures, imperf), 50c black on yellow, Colima, cons 11-68, in combination with 1868, 25c blue on pink, Colima, cons 11-69 on 1869 incoming triple rate folded letter sheet from Hamburg, Germany to Tepic via Panama, stamps added as postage dues in Colima with Colima circular handstamp tying stamps (Schatzkes 181), with red Hamburg origin and London and Panama transit cds's, various rate markings including red "72¾" Groshen rate and large "6" due handstamp for overland from Colima to Tepic, illustrated in Schimmer & Heath Mexican Maritime Mail (pg 250), ex-Rosenthal; with 2008 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

A REMARKABLE TRIPLE RATE INCOMING COVER FROM GERMANY WITH 1868 HIDALGO ISSUES PAYING THE INLAND TRANSIT.

Paid triple rate 72¾ Groshen postage to Manzanillo as port of entry. Via British steamer to London, then per "Shannon" from Southampton to Colon and overland to Panama. Then by Pacific Mail Steamship to Manzanillo.
