Fidler, Colo., Oct 14, 1881 (Fremont), full cds with matching target handstamp canceling on 3¢ green entire to Columbus, O., receiving backstamp; cover slightly reduced at right, Very Fine, a rare and short-lived post office.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Fidler was a depot and post office located on the Grape Creek Branch of the Denver and Rio Grande Railway from Canon City to Westcliffe. It operated from June 17, 1881 to October 26, 1882.

Fort Lewis, Colo., Jun 12, 1881 (La Plata), full strike of cds on cover to Copenhagen, N.Y., franked with 3¢ Banknote canceled by target handstamp, with original enclosure datelined "In Camp, near Fort Lewis" with interesting Indian content…I doubt if I return to (Fort) Bayand soon. There has been trouble approaching (sic) with the Utes here, on account of the Government wishing to move them out of Colorado or the Governor of Colorado, is quite anxious to move them because they have good lands; cover reduced and opened at sides and bottom, otherwise Very Fine.
