Zanzibar, (Indian Post Office), Zanzibar, Nov : 14, first type cds and matching experimental square grid handstamp (Proud type K2, used from June 1, 1878 to July 1879) tying India 1866, 4a green on reverse of two 1878 covers; one to Bombay with Aden transit cds tying stamp, other to Mundra with Sea Post Office and Aden transit postmarks; the latter with edge wear, nick and separation in cover, F.-V.F. overall, rare with approximately 24 covers bearing this first type Indian P.O. cancellation.

Zanzibar, (Indian Post Office) Zanzibar, Oct 18, second type cds and "B" squared bar duplex tying India 1865, 1a brown + 2a orange on 1880 J. Meyer corner card cover to Hamburg, Germany, reverse with Sea Post Office and Aden transit cds's, receiving postmark, Very Fine, carried aboard the P&O ship Sumatra from Aden to Suez.

Zanzibar, (Indian Post Office) Zanzibar, Jul 29, second type cds and "B" squared bar duplex tying India 1866, 4a green + 1873 ½a blue on 1880 cover from Walter Thompson of the Eastern and South African Telegraph Co. (imprint on backflap), to his wife in London, England, manuscript "via Aden and Brindisi" routing endorsement at top, red London receiving backstamp (Au 23), Very Fine, an attractive and scarce second type postmark usage.

Zanzibar, (Indian Post Office) Zanzibar, second type cds and "B" squared bar duplex on two covers; one dated "Jun 1" to Mandvi, India tying India 1865, 2a orange + 1873 ½a blue, vertical pair, appropriate transit backstamps including boxed "TPO Enquiry Office, Bombay, Jun 21" date stamp, other a 1881-82 ship letter cover to Bombay with "Mar 1" postmark tying India 1873 ½a blue, two singles on reverse, various Bombay postmarks including "Bombay., Ship Letter, Postage Due 1an." on front; few small cover flaws, F.-V.F.

Zanzibar, (Indian Post Office) Zanzibar, third type cds and "B" circular bar duplex on two covers dated "Aug 29, 1882" to India carried on the P&O liner Venetia, one tying India 1865, 1a brown + 2a orange and other two of each of the same for double rate (cover erosion and edge chipping), first two considered to be the earliest usage of the third type postmark, a Fine, considered to be scarcer than the second type postmark with less than 40 covers known.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

Zanzibar, (Indian Post Office) Zanzibar, fifth type squared barred cds on two postal cards and two entires; postal cards with India 1½a blue postal card sent to Mozambique "pr Oriental" French paquebot in 1887, and a India ¼a postal card to Germany uprated with India 1882 1a maroon in 1892, entires both India 1891 2½a on 4½a yellow orange, one sent to Switzerland in 1892 and other in 1893 to Bombay "Per S.S. Kola, Via Aden", Very Fine.
