China, 1835 (May 13) Canton, China to Philadelphia Pa. Via Boston, folded letter from the Whetmore correspondence datelined "Canton, May 13th 1835", endorsed per Ship "Timor" at bottom left, entered mails with red "Boston Ms., Oct 19" and matching "Ship" straightline with red manuscript. "77" rating; light file folds, Very Fine.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

Some interesting market reporting concerning tea, "…The market could not supply a single vessel with Teas, we are the holders of nearly every … in market…We enclose a comparative statement of the exports of tea to this time thewing an export of this season to be thus far Chs 147.561 … the following vessels will take: Ship Paris 7.000, x Logan 4.000, x Tarquin 4.000, Alexander 7.000, x Mary 4.000, and Franklin 6.000 totalled to 180.061.Those marked thus x will load partly at Manila…The Canton crop of … has been injured by the drought, which will have the effect to cause Teas to break high at the opening of next seaon…" and signed "Wetmore".
