Italian Offices in Peking, 1917 Victor Emmanuel III 2¢ on 5c green, hand surcharge, block of 9, tied to large part of envelope to Rome by "R.R. Poste Italiane/29.12.17/Pechino-Cina" and Bologna (registered foreign mail) cds’, with two strikes of the Italian Legation in Peking alongside; few toned perforations caused by the gum, otherwise Very Fine, large multiples are of great scarcity, with less than five such multiples known; with 2016 Bottacchi certificate. Scott No. 1.

1917 Italian Offices in Peking Varieties, an extraordinary assembly mainly featuring outstanding varieties of the 1917 first surcharges, comprising four local registered covers including one bearing inverted 4c. on 10c. and 2c. on 5c. pair with double surcharge (one inverted) at top (Oliva and Fiecchi certificates); 4c & 6c two surcharges on 25c (two covers, one accompanied by Fiecchi certificate); and "Floreale" 20c on 40c The lot is additionally enriched by eight used adhesives also of great interest, accompanied by four Fiecchi and Oliva certificates, including surcharges unlisted in Sassone, such as Express 25c only showing "Pechino" overprint (cert. Fiecchi, probably the only recorded), Very Fine, a unique and most difficult group of great rarity and fascination, ex-Marquess of Bute.

Italian Offices in Peking, 1917-18 Arms of Savoy 1c brown, two pairs and single, pair on front and others on reverse, in combination with 1917-18, 5c green, pair and single + 25c blue on 1918 registered censored cover franked at 45 centesimi to Rogliano Calabro, readdressed to Parenti, with the franking tied by "R.R. Poste Italiane/Pechino-Cina" cds's, on reverse closing "Fiat" vignette and datestamps of Bologna and Rogliano; some toning along perforations and cover slightly reduced at left, F.-V.F., a very rare franking; with 2016 Bottacchi certificate.
