Chiapas, 1866, 1r black on light green, Chiapas Provisional, horizontal pair, full margins, affixed on reverse of 1867 folded letter sheet sealing cover as usual, to Oaxaca with two strikes of Tuxtla script handstamp (Schatzkes 132) tying pair, front with additional strike and matching "Franco" handstamp (Schatzkes 132A); light cover edge wear and left stamp with sealed upper corner opening tear and small margin tear at lower right in pair, still Very Fine appearance, almost all covers of this issue show tears given the custom in Chiapas of sealing the covers with the stamps; signed J.K. Bash, with 1959 Bureau de Peritajes, 1992 and 2010 M.E.P.S.I. certificates.

Guzman banner postmark (Schatzkes 340), to Guadalajara 650, Very Fine, all covers from the first period are rare; with 2002 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
