Ballou's Fraser River Express, folded letter sheet carried by Ballou's and addressed to the Attorney General for British Columbia "New Westminster or Victoria", with signed notation on reverse "Mr Crease is not at N W but at Victoria, Ballou", Very Fine.

Ballou's Fraser River Express, B.C., Paid, black ribbon frank (BAL-001) on cover to the Treasury Office in New Westminster, with red "New Westminster, Post Office, British Columbia" oval frank at upper right; small cover opening tear at top and partial backflap, F.-V.F., ex-Wellburn.
Estimate    $2,000 - 3,000.

ONE OF SIX RECORDED USAGES OF THE BALLOU'S FRASER RIVER EXPRESS BLACK RIBBON FRANK.

Ballou's operated from Victoria B.C. to the mines on the Fraser and Thompson Rivers in British Columbia starting in 1857. In 1862, Ballou sold his business to Dietz and Nelson's.

Barnard's (British Columbia) Express, two strikes of circular handstamp (BBC-102) on incoming U.S. 1870, 3¢ green entire to Cariboo from San Francisco, Cal. with Wells, Fargo & Co. printed frank at top, one tying Canada 1873, 3¢ orange red, matching "Collect" in oval handstamps; sealed cover opening tear at bottom right, F.-V.F.

(Barnard's Cariboo Express) Lillooet., straight line handstamp (BCE-103) tying 1865, 3d blue, two singles on cover to Barkersville, circular "F.W. Foster, Lillooet" merchant corner card handstamp; right stamp with pre-use tears and cover with light soiling and a bit reduced at left, Fine, accompanied by contemporary Barksville news clipping showing the two routes of Barnard's Express, connecting with Dietz & Nelson at Lillooet and Yale., ex-Welburn.
