Bordeaux was located about 25 miles southwest of Fort Laramie with an estimated population of 21.

The post office was established in Sweetwater County Aug. 26th 1868. The site was selected as a camp and shops for the Union Pacific Railroad with the name changed to "Green River" on August 27th 1887.
