THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THIS VIGNETTE ONLY DIE ESSAY BY STERLING ENGRAVING CO. OF NEW YORK.

Although not so stated on the essay, it was the product of the Sterling Engraving Co. of New York. The original die is now in the vaults of the Bureau of Engraving and printing.

THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THIS ORIGINAL B.E.P. PHOTO ESSAY.

No essay of this die was known to exist as late as May 1958, at which time one was made for the Bureau records, and used in the production of this photograph. The original die, P.O. Die number 537, is now held in the vaults of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing
