1859, 10¢ green, type V, tied by "New York, May 21" ocean mail grid cds over "Not Paid" framed handstamp and embossed McClellan Bros. forwarders oval on 1861 folded letter from Liverpool, England to Cienfuegos, Cuba, red "New York, Paid, Mar 21" exchange cds, Havana (3.27.61) backstamp and "NA1" oval for North American inland 1 reales postage due, Cienfuegos (3.29) arrival backstamp, Very Fine unusual transatlantic use, Illustrated in Neinken, fig. V.
Scott No. 35    Estimate $300 - 400.

This letter was privately forwarded from Liverpool to New York where marked "Not Paid" after being posted unpaid. Returned to McClellan Bros. where postage affixed and remailed as prepayment was compulsory. New York ocean mail grid cds struck in error and correct red New York exchange cds struck.

1857, 12¢ black, plate I, used with 1¢ blue (24) and 10¢ green (35) pair, each cancelled by manuscript "X", on orange cover to Victoria, Australia, "Marion Ohio. Sep 12" origin backstamp, endorsed "Via Southampton England" at lower left, red "New-York Br. Pkt. Sep 13" exchange backstamp and magenta "12" cent credit to G.B., red London Paid (9.27.60), Omeo (10.24) arrival backstamp; cosmetic repairs, Very Fine appearance.

May 15" cds on 1861 cover to Captain of Ship Rowena, care U.S. Consul at Melbourne, Australia, endorsed "via Marseilles", red "Boston 'Paid 24' May 17" exchange cds and additional "Boston Am. Pkt. Paid May 17" backstamp, red London Paid (6.3.61) transit cds, red Melbourne (8.11.61) arrival backstamp; repaired tears at top and partial flap, 1¢ faulty at top, Fine appearance, ex-Neinken, Wagshal.
