Pkt. Paid Jun 20" exchange cds and red crayon "12" for double the 6¢ credit to G.B., carried by the Inman Line City of Washington from New York Jun. 21st to Liverpool arriving Jul. 3rd, red London Paid (7.4) transit cds and red crayon "1" pence credit, red Cape of Good Hope Aug. arrival backstamp, Very Fine, ex-Knapp (lot label affixed); with 2007 P.F. certificate.

A RARE 1861 ISSUE FRANKING FOR DOUBLE THE 33¢ BRITISH MAIL RATE VIA ENGLAND.

For some reason, London rated the letter as a single rate (1 pence) instead of the double rate (2 pence) for the British colonial postage.
