1918, 2¢ carmine, Offset imperf, type VII, bottom margin single, o.g., never hinged, large evenly balanced margins with full sheet margin at bottom, rich radiant color and remarkable freshness, an Extremely Fine gem, very scarce and especially so in such exceptional condition; with 2000 P.F. certificate for pair.

1919, 2¢ carmine rose, type II, rotary coil waste, perf 11 x 10, o.g., never hinged, unusually deep rich color, wide margins and far better centered than normally encountered in this issue, pristine Post Office freshness, F.-V.F., only one graded higher in the grade of 80; with 1993 P.F. and 2004 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (F-VF 75, SMQ $7,200).
Scott No. 539    $4,250 for the grade of fine.

1923, 1¢ green, rotary sheet waste, perf 11, Cleveland, Ohio precancel, strong color, well centered especially for this notoriously off centered sheet waste issue, Very Fine; with 2002 P.F. certificate.
Scott No. 544    $3,750 for the grade of fine.

A CHOICE USED EXAMPLE OF THIS SCARCE 1923 1¢ PERF 11 ROTARY SHEET WASTE ISSUE.

This rare sheet waste issue is the result of a small stack of 1¢ rotary sheets run through the perf 11x11 machine that was being used for the flat plate printings that time. It was not discovered until 1936 when three used examples came to light.
