New Zealand, 1856, Queen Victoria "Chalon Head", 2d bright blue on blue paper, Auckland printing, unwatermarked, horizontal pair, full margins except right stamp just touched at top, rich bright color, tied by two bold strikes of numeral "1" barred ovals, matching "Auckland, New Zealand, AU 12, 1856" backstamp on folded cover to Sydney, New South Wales, reverse with "Ship Letter, Sydney, AU * 25, 1856" rimless backstamp; light horizontal folds away from stamps, F.-V.F. and scarce pair prepaying the 1 oz. rate to Australia.
