New Zealand, 1865, Queen Victoria "Chalon Head", 4d yellow, perf 12½, Large Star watermark, horizontal pair, tied by "Auckland, JY 28 '73" cds duplexed with numeral "1" barred oval on cover to Columbus Oh., magenta "2" pence credit to G.B., red London Paid (10.8) and New York Paid All (10. 20) transit cds's; cover a bit reduced at right and some slight soiling, F.-V.F. and attractive use. Scott No. 35. Campbell Paterson No. A4b (2).

Cover is prepaid 8d rate for a ½ oz. to the United States via Suez and the United Kingdom that was effective November 22nd 1871.
