Tonga, Tin Can Mail Cover Collection, 1930-86, of 268 items mostly written up on pages, various addressed and franked with a full range of colorful cachets including specific visits and printed envelopes, noted 1930 (Oct 7) "U.S. Naval Eclipse Expedition" cover, 1937 registered to London franked with 1897 5d, 1946 (Dec 2) last tin can mail cover to Fiji franked by 1942 2½d with manuscript cancel "Niuafoou, 21-12-46", 1947 label on cover indicating the end of the tin can mail due to eruption of volcano, includes a section of incoming mail, registered mail, scarce commemorative cachets, etc.; a truly extensive array of these popular covers, inspection a must.
