"Shanghai, China" Registry Exchange Label, red on white registry exchange label with red Gothic "R" & handstamp "4181" number, on registered wrapper to Neuweier, Germany, franked with 1898, 6¢ lake + 15¢ olive green + 1901, 13¢ purple black neatly tied by Shanghai segmented grid handstamps, blue "U.S. Postal Agency - Reg Div, Shanghai, China, Nov 27, 1903" oval date stamp with New York registry exchange etiquette alongside, reverse with San Francisco and New York transit date stamps; wrapper with a couple small tears at lower right and 13¢ with natural s.e., Very Fine, ex-Fisher.

A on cover example of this rare Shanghai registry exchange etiquette in combination with the blue Shanghai registry division oval date stamp to the U.S. was sold in our 2018 Sescal sale for $12,000 hammer.

Received, Jun 13, U.S. Postal Agency, Shanghai, China, purple 4-line date stamp on incoming Philippines 1¢ green entire locally addressed canceled with "Manila, P.I., May 21" duplex, forwarded to Shanghai with Philippines 1899, 1¢ green (226) tied by duplex killer paying the postage due and "Manila, P.I., Jun 2" forwarding cds at right, reverse with Shanghai Local Post cds's of June 7th and 13th, entire returned to sender with red "Dead Letter Office, Manila, P.I., Aug 10, 1906" backstamp, Very Fine, an interesting usage bear this rare U.S. Postal Agency receiving handstamp.
