Ecuador, 1865, 1r orange yellow, clear to large margins, tied by red "3154" in dotted lozenge cancel of Quito on cover to Avignon, France paying the double internal postage rate within Ecuador, forwarded through the British P.O. with "Guayaquil, Au 9, 1871" double arc cds, carried by the PSNC steamer to Panama with "Panama Transit, 20 Au, 1871" date stamp of the British P.O. at the Isthmus, then carried by British ship to England with "GB/1F90c" Anglo-French accountancy marking applied on single rate mail from the Pacific Coast, French entry at Calais and "15" decimes due handstamp, Very Fine, only about seven covers are recorded franked with first issue stamps to a transatlantic destination; with 2013 Moorhouse certificate.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r yellow ochre, clear to large margins, tied by "Quito, Franca, Dic 30, 68" cds on cover to Paris, France paying the internal postage to Guayaquil, routed via British P.O. with "Guayaquil, Ja 12, 1869" double arc cds and red London transit on reverse, bold boxed "GB, 1F90c" accountancy handstamp and "12" decimes due handstamp applied upon arrival; non-contemporary sticker at lower left, Very Fine, letters from Ecuador to destinations in Europe bearing the first issue as part payment of the postage are very rare, ex-Longhi.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r yellow orange, block of sixteen, positions 1-8 / 10-17, worn 1872 printing, clear to large margins, canceled by manuscript cancels on judicial wrapper front and part back to Quito, with "Riobamba, 16 Nov" origin cds and manuscript "32 oz" weight notation; couple tears affecting a few stamps, otherwise Very Fine, a spectacular large multiple usage, ex-Longhi; with 2009 Moorhouse certificate.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r deep orange, top margin horizontal strip of four, showing full margin rule, rich color, tied by blue "Ibarra, Franca" two-line handstamp from the pre-adhesive period on Judicial wrapper to Quito, manuscript "8 oz" weight notation at center, Very Fine, ex-Funkhouser, Longhi and Olgieser; with 2009 Moorhouse certificate.

AN EXTREMELY RARE AND LIKELY UNIQUE ON COVER USAGE OF THE IBARRA PRE-ADHESIVE CANCELLATION USED ON THE FIRST ISSUE - ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CANCELLATION USAGES OF ECUADORIAN PHILATELY.

This cancel has been recorded by Ayora on fewer than five single stamps off cover, with none struck in blue. It was used during the first months of 1865, prior to the arrival of new postmarks in Ibarra.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r yellow buff, vertical strip of nine, positions 9//81, positions 9 & 18 with embossed arms variety, in combination with 1865 ½r blue, embossed arms on Judicial front and bottom flap to Chimbo, all tied by "Riobamba, 27 Mars, 6" cds's; front with vertical file fold affecting third stamp in strip, otherwise Very Fine, ex-Saá and Longhi; with 2011 Moorhouse certificate.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r chrome cinnamon, rejoined block of ten and single, block in at bottom and separated between the second and third horizontal row (block of four and six), all cancelled and tied by dotted lozenges and "Latacunga, 24 Mai, 66" cds's on Judicial wrapper to Riobamba, manuscript "22 oz" weight notation at top center, Very Fine, the largest recorded multiple usage featuring the chrome cinnamon shade, ex-Wolmer and Olgieser.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r orange buff, vertical strip of nine, positions 16 / 25 / 34 / 43 / 52 / 61 / 70 / 79 / 88, margins mostly large to in at upper left and bottom, in combination with 1865, ½r blue on oversized Judicial wrapper to Chimbo, all tied by "Riobamba, 9 Fevr, 6" cds's, Very Fine, this being the second largest multiple of the 1r yellow on cover, ex-Gebauer.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r yellow buff, irregular block of eleven, positions 73-78 / 83-87, full margins, canceled by "Guano, 23 Nov." cds's on Judicial wrapper to Riobamba, manuscript "21½ oz" weight notation at upper right; horizontal file fold affecting top stamps in block, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare high value franking from Guano, with just about tens covers are known originating from this town, ex-Olgieser.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r yellow buff, clear to large margins, tied by "Franca" in dotted lozenge handstamp of Guayaquil on private folded letter to Riobamba paying the up to ½ oz. domestic rate, with letter datelined "Guayaquil 27 de Set, 1871", Very Fine and choice, this is probably a unique single franking on private correspondence, ex-Saá and Olgieser.
