1938, $5 Presidential, used with 15¢ Transport (C28) pair and 25¢ Airmail (C38), tied by "Sturgis, Mich." duplex strikes on piece of package to Zurich, Switzerland, "Via Air Mail" label, pink Zurich two-line handstamp; some light stamp creases, a Very Fine and scarce $5 use on letter mail.

A SCARCE USE OF THE $5 PREXIE ON LETTER MAIL.

Package was prepaid 37-times the 15¢ per ½ ounce airmail letter rate to Switzerland. Rate was in effect until June 30, 1971.

1938, $5 Presidential, block of 15, tied by double oval cancels on reverse of parcel tag from San Francisco Cal. to Agana, Guam, "Air Mail" handstamp; some light creasing, Very Fine and use of large $5 block.

Card prepaid $75 for probably rate of $50.75 air mail postage rated at 72.5-73 ounces at 35¢ per ½ ounce, $1.35 minimum registry and $22.90 supplementary fee, zone 7 for $14-$15 million indemnity. Registry fee time frame of June 6, 1945 through December 31, 1948.

Reg. Sec. Rincon Annex, Nov 14, 1947" origin cds; card crease affects bottom $5 pair, otherwise Very Fine and scarce $5 use to foreign destination.

1939, 3¢ Presidential, horizontal coil, pair, tied by "New York, N.Y., Mar 17, 1945" machine cancel on cover to "Frank Perry, American Civilian Internee held by Japan in Zentsuzi War Prison Camp, Zentsuzi, Shikoku Island, Japan", from his wife in San Francisco endorsed "Via New York, N.Y.", censor tape at left with purple "11877, U.S. Censor" handstamp, Japanese blue censor handstamp with three Japanese characters reading Ken'etsuzumi (censored) and additional orange red oval censor mark of Wada; reduced slightly at right.

Frank Perry was a civilian working on Guam when taken Prisoner. It was reported he was paralyzed from the waist down. He one of only three American prisoners in this camp.

ONE OF THE EXTRAORDINARY PREXIE COIL ISSUE SOLO USAGES, THE 10¢ COIL PREPAYING THE 10¢ AIR MAIL POST CARD RATE.

Effective June 1, 1954, post cards could go by air mail at a separate rate of their own. The 10¢ rate was in effect through June 30, 1961.
