California Penny Post Co., 1855, 5¢ blue, uncancelled, tied by addressing on buff cover to Fitchburg Mass., "San Francisco Cal., 30 Jun" cds originally tying 10¢ 1855 Issue that is now missing; cover top edge tear and stain spot at bottom, F.-V.F. appearance, An exceptionally rare on-cover tied example of the California Penny Post Co. 5¢ blue stamp, ex-Knapp; signed Sloane as genuine.

Commission Merchants, San Francisco, blue embossed cameo on flap of orange cover Medford Mass. bearing 10¢ green, type III (15), large margins except touched at sides, tied by "San Francisco, Cal. 5 Mar" cds, endorsed "Per Golden Gate" at top left; reduced slightly at top from opening, Very Fine.

Post & Co. were express and letter forwarders to Hawaii. The "Golden Gate" was one of their schooners.
