(Louisiana) (New Orleans) N.O.U.S. City Post, Oct 10, 8 A.M., green snowshovel date stamp on incoming folded letter sheet to New Orleans, La., franked with France 1fr lake, strip of three tied by roller grid cancel, matching "Paris, 18 Sept, 51" origin cds, "Br. Packet, Boston, Oct 2" entry cds with matching "5 Cents" handstamp, green oval "Car 2" handstamp indicating inbound carrier service; file fold affecting center stamp, otherwise Very Fine, the earliest usage of the green N.O.U.S. City Post marking bearing the hour designation; signed Calves.

Sep. 2" cds applied, "5" due handstamp, Very Fine, scarce usage and most unusual entry point for bootlegged mail.

(New York) New-York, May 18, remarkably clear strike of red "clamshell" datestamp and manuscript "12½" rating on 1798 folded cover to Suffield Conn., docketing on back extends to address panel, slightly worn file fold, still Extremely Fine and choice, ex-Hahn.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The New York "Clamshell" marking is much scarcer in red and seldom clearly struck. According to Siegel, Cal Hahn noted this was the "3rd best red strike recorded" and he surely was in a position to know.

(New York) Scarsdale, N.Y., bold straight line postmark with manuscript state on cover to Northhampton, Mass., franked with 1861, 3¢ rose tied by oval "Dec 17, 1863" date stamp, with original enclosure, Extremely Fine, a very interesting postmark and date stamp usage, ex-Jarrett; with 2008 P.F. certificate.
