(TransA - North Atlantic) 1860 (Apr. 9) St. Louis Mo. to Havre, France, cover front bearing 1¢ blue (24) pair, 3¢ dull red (26) and 10¢ green (35), two pairs and single, all tied by "St. Louis Mo. Apr 9, 1860" cds, red "New York 'Paid 9' Apr 14" credit exchange cds, carried by North Atlantic S.S. Co. Adriatic from New York Apr. 14th to Havre arriving Apr. 25th, bluish purple Havre (4.25) entry octagon and small red "PD" framed handstamp; some minor toning, F.-V.F. and spectacular franking, Carried on the maiden voyage of the Adriatic , which was the first voyage of the North Atlantic Steamship Co..
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

The New York credit of 9¢ was for triple-weight (½-¾ oz.), corresponding to triple the 15¢ treaty rate. The front was overpaid 10¢ as a result.

(TransA - North Atlantic) 1860 (Jun. 1) New York, N.Y. to Havre, France, folded cover with "New York '12' Jun 2" exchange debit cds, carried by North Atlantic S.S. Co. Adriatic from New York Jun. 2nd to Havre arriving Jun. 12th, Havre (6.12) entry cds with "8" décimes due handstamp, Very Fine, ex-Winter.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Letter carried on 2nd of only five round voyages of Adriatic (formerly of the Collins Line) for the short-lived North Atlantic Steamship Company, which carried contract mails on only six round voyages from New York to Havre via Southampton in 1860.

(TransA - North Atlantic) 1860 (Jun. 11) Charleston S.C. to Nantes, France, blue folded letter bearing 24¢ gray lilac (37), straddle-pane margin at right, tied by "Charleston S.C. Jul 11" cds, red "New York 'Paid 3' Jun 14" credit exchange cds ("Jun" used in error), carried on North Atlantic S.S. Co. Adriatic from New York Jul. 14th to Havre arriving Jul. 24th, blue Havre (7.24) arrival datestamp that is an unusual color for this marking, Le Havre a Paris (7.24) and Nantes (7.25) arrival backstamps, Very Fine, ex-Karrer.

Adriatic N/York to Havre" at top, carried by North Atlantic S.S. Co. Adriatic from New York Jul. 14th to Havre arriving Jul. 24th, blue Havre (7.24) octagon entry and small "PD" framed handstamp, Lyon arrival backstamp, Very Fine and rare 10¢ 1857 issue combination use.

Adriatic from New York Jul. 14th to Havre arriving Jul. 24th, gray-blue Havre (7.24) arrival datestamp that is an unusual color for this marking, "16" décimes due rating handstamp, Paris (7.25) arrival backstamp, Very Fine, This was carried on the 3rd of only 7 voyages of the North Atlantic Steamship Company, ex-Hegland.
