Trinidad, 1853, "Britannia" engraved (1d) brownish red, imperf, blued paper, ample well balanced margins, tied by light boxed 1 grid handstamp on 1854 folded letter to Danzig, Prussia, with manuscript "Via Southampton & Ostende" routing endorsement and "2/2" rating, reverse with "Trinidad, My 10, 1854" origin cds, red London "Paid, Ju 5, 1854" cds with matching "P." in oval handstamp, red bold "England Per Aachen, Franco, 6/6" transit cds; stamp lifted for identification and hinged back in place, Very Fine and choice. Scott No. 1a.

Trinidad, 1854, "Britannia" engraved (1d) rose red, imperf, white paper, clear to large margins, tied by boxed "1" grid handstamp on cover to Boston, Mass., reverse with "Trinidad, Fe 09, 1859" cds and held with red crayon "Postage not paid" on front, postage eventually secured with notice crossed out and crayon "4" rate added and bold red "Paid at Trinidad" crown circle handstamp alongside, reverse with "Trinidad, Mr 10, 1859" cds added, St. Thomas transit backstamp and N.Y. "Steamship 10" in circle handstamp applied upon entry; cover file folds, Very Fine. Scott No. 6.
