(Town & County) Donahue, Sonoma Co. Cal., Apr 16, 1875 (Sonoma), blue cds (SON-1230, R5) on fresh cover to Alliance, O., franked with 3¢ Banknote canceled by matching quartered cork handstamp, Very Fine, very rare with known usages only from March 12 and May 31 of 1875.

Named for Peter Donahue, who built a branch line of the San Francisco & North Pacific R.R. to the site.

Cal., May 9 (Fresno), clear small type cds (FRE-1400, R5) on embossed monogram ca. 1876 cover to Lodi, franked with 3¢ Banknote canceled by target handstamp; small cover edge nick and stamp flaws, F.-V.F., the only recorded example of Firebaugh's first postmark.

Cal., Sep 25, 1880 (Shasta), clear purple octagon date stamp (SHA-1740) on legal size cover to Independence, Mo., franked with manuscript canceled 3¢ Banknote; cover tone and reduced at sides, a Very Fine and choice strike, this is the only recorded example of Gas Point's first postmark.

(Town & County) Gasquet, Del Norte Co., Cal., Jun 30, 1884 (Del Norte), bold oval serrated date stamp (DEL-210) on manuscript canceled 1883, 2¢ red entire to Santa Barbara; slight reduction at right, otherwise Very Fine, the only recorded example of the first Gasquet postmark.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Named for Horace Gasquet, who settled here in the 1850's. He was the first postmaster and operated a stage coach stop.
