California Enclosure Collection, 1850-80's, hundreds of letters of the period for all over California; includes dozens of letters from the 1850's - many miner's letters with datelines including Murphy's Camp, Union City, Eureka, Alta Express Co. letterhead letter from San Francisco, Stockton, Sac City, etc., large selection of 1860's letters from Camptonville, North Columbia, Yreka, Grizzly Valley, "U.S. Hotel, Los Angeles", lengthy 25 page letter from Folsom, Forest Hill, Spring Valley, etc.; a wonderful treasure trove for the California history enthusiast.

California Ephemera Balance, mix of carte-de-visites, cabinet photos, stereo views, telegraphs, express receipt and news clippings, etc.; carte-de-visite including Henry Haight (Governor Elect of California), Gov. Burnett, 1893 edition of Constitution of the Society of California Volunteers with various military carte-de-visite figures, also a section of French Corral, Cal. including a number of early cabinet photos of the town and mining scenes.

California Postal History Balance, well over 100 covers and additional misc. items; good range of towns with many accompanying enclosures throughout, towns including Mokelumne Hill manuscript, 1868 Oregon House, Cal. manuscript (with letter regarding life in California), 1865 Todd's Valley (with enclosure), 1871 Freeport manuscript (unlisted in Williams), 1869 Tehama (enclosure), 1860 Strawberry Valley (#35 franking, with enclosure) and a 1870's fancy cds usage, scarce 1870's Black Diamond oval postmark, 1858 San Andreas to Mok Hill with straight line "Advertised" handstamp, etc.; worth careful review.

Agents, 84 Wall St. N.Y." red illustrated cameo cover showing sailing ship with red New York cds; 1859 red Wells Fargo & Co. frank on 10¢ Nesbitt entire posted in Boston; 2¢ front with Denver and Rio Grande Express frank; steamship uses, transatlantics, etc.

Monterey County Postal History Balance, of approximately 700 covers; mix of mostly more modern usages with some good early postmarks from various town including Salinas, Paraiso Springs, Apricot, etc., many post card usages including some real photo, some hand drawn items including 1914 Salinas cover with hand-drawn and colored women illustration and a 1942 Camp Roberts calligraphy cover; worth inspection.
