(Town & County) "Thompsons Flat, Butte Co. Cal. June 23rd 1866", manuscript postmark with matching cross-hatch cancelling 10¢ green (68) on 3¢ pink (U58) entire to Hong Kong, China, reverse with "Hong Kong, C, AU 30, 66" arrival backstamp; slight aging, Very Fine.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

(Town & County) Tiburon, Marin Co. Cal., Sep 7, 1890 (Marin), purple cds and target duplex (MRN-3170) tying 5¢ Banknote on cover to Bremen, Germany, receiving backstamp; cover a bit reduced at left, Very Fine, the finer of only two postmarks recorded.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

This postmark shows the removal of "Point" from the earlier "Point Tiburon" postmark device. This cover realized $900 hammer in our 2009 Westpex sale.

Tarr P.M., Apr 30, 1883 (Los Angeles), clear oval date stamp (LOS-15090, R5) on cover to Springville, franked with 3¢ Banknote canceled by matching target handstamps; some cover edge wear, a Very Fine strike, the earliest recorded strike of this rare town, county and postmaster postmark (photo on web site).
