Singer, Meek & Co.'s Feather River Express, printed ornate frank (SME-001) on manuscript canceled 1855, 10¢ Nesbitt entire to Mitteneaque, Mass., with red "Strawberry Valley, Cala. Mar 16" cds with manuscript date; slightly reduced at right a bit into frank, F.-V.F. and attractive, one of only four known examples of this ornate Feather River express frank.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

This express operated over a route established as early as 1850 from Marysville to the mining camps along the Feather River. This usage posted at the Strawberry Valley post office is unique.
